Real exam question:

It has been often said when an individual behaves in an anti-social way, society in general is to blame.

What causes this behavior?
Who is responsible for dealing with it?

It is argued that it is the society that should be held responsible for the cases of misconduct in social settings. I believe that the deteriorating behavior of people has its roots in the media and video games, and that parents and teachers together with the government are to blame for this predicament.

To start, a number of modern-day factors have been fueling this rise in the number of cases in which people misbehave. Media is probably the leading cause of this since people are increasingly more glued to screens now than ever before, so anything shown on TV or social media platforms can easily impact their behavior. Foreign soap operas are catching popularity these days in our country and, unfortunately, the majority of the beliefs they are based on are rather alien, if not contradictory, to our culture which is leading to a social decline in our society. Video games such as PUBG could be another reasons for this lowering cultural standards, especially among the young. Being exposed to violence for long hours during gaming sessions is normalizing violance among teenagers and the majority of them who are addicted to online games feel that it is acceptable to use violance to deal with social problems. Therefore, we need to take some time to reflect on the impact the media and games have on us and our youngstres.

The current predicament has been persistant due to the lack of responsibility by parents and academic staff, and government bodies. Because of the high levels of materialism in our society, both parents and teachers are less concerned with the quality of upbringing they are supposed provide for youngsters and more preoccupied by achieving their financial goals. Thus young adults engage in activities such as abusing the Internet and surfing through websites, fully unsupervised, that may completely cripple their moral and cultural values, and then go on to violate  codes of behavior in society. Another party that should take the blame is government organizations responsible for monitoring the content various forms of media show to the public. The lack of control in this sphere is resulting in an increase in the number of TV shows and soap opera that are totally inappropriate in our culture, which could be causing the decline in the significance of cultural values in our society.

In concolusion, it is quite unfortunate that a growing number of people are starting to show anti-social behavior and this is caused by the poor quality of contents on media channels and the rise in the popularity of video games. I think parents and the teaching community as well as  government organizations have an important role to play in this phenomenon.
