The pie charts below provide data on how financial resources were used at a specific school in the UK in the years 1981, 1991, and 2001. In all the three years, the largest share of the funds went to the teachers as salaries while the least amount was allocated for insurance purposes.

In 1981, 40% of all the money at the school's disposal was paid out to the teaching staff as salaries and this figure reached 50% in 1991 when the teachers earned slightly more than twice as much as the other employees at school. In 2001, the difference was even more significant with 45% and 15% of the total funds being distributed to the teachers and the other workers respectively.

Even if the spendings on insurance had increased from an insignificant proportion in 1981 to 8% by 2001, this figure still accounted for the least percentage of the annual budget. Around one-fifth of the annual budget went to educational resources such as books in the first two years while this rate had dropped to only 9% by 2001, and the figure for furniture and equipment fluctuated between 5% and 23% over this three-decade period.
