Un uomo era incarcerato a vita all’ultimo piano di una torre.
Sua moglie, che non poteva vivere senza di lui, decise di aiutarlo a fuggire.
Prese uno scarabeo e, dopo aver legato con grande delicatezza un filo di seta all’insetto, ne bagnò le antenne con una goccia di miele.
Poi lo depose ai piedi della torre, con le antenne rivolte verso l’alto.
Desideroso di raggiungere il miele, l’insetto si arrampicò fino a raggiungere la finestra del prigioniero.

Questi, liberato lo scarabeo, tirò il filo di seta.
All’altra estremità era legato un filo più robusto.
A questo seguiva uno spago, e allo spago una cordicella, e alla cordicella era legata una solida fune, che l’uomo legò all’interno della cella e usò per calarsi dalla torre e fuggire via insieme alla moglie.

Certe grandi conoscenze si acuiscono a piccole dosi.
L’immagine del forellino nella diga è una buona similitudine:

A man was imprisoned for life on the top floor of a tower.
