During Ministry of Finance’s Committee of Supply Debate in Parliament today, four key topics were addressed:

1) Accountability and governance in our expenditure
2) GST and other revenue sources
3) Support for businesses to overcome COVID-19 disruptions
4) Positioning our business ecosystem for the future

The Government has supported businesses and protected livelihoods of Singaporeans during this challenging period. We will continue to work in partnership with individuals, communities and businesses to emerge from the pandemic and build a better Singapore.

2022-01-25 06:54:15 Our forum reply in The Straits Times assured that the Government will continue to directly shield Singaporeans from the full impact of the cost increases from rising energy prices and food.

Irrespective of when GST is raised, its impact on Singaporeans will be effectively delayed by at least five years for majority of Singaporean households, and by about 10 years for lower-income households.
