Sable Island, Canada
This small Canadian island is located in the Atlantic Ocean. Absolute solitude, sparse vegetation, miles of sand, hundreds of wild horses and hundreds of dead ships.
Sable is so called, "The Graveyard of the Atlantic." More than 350 shipwrecks have been reported here. The reason for this is the dense fog, flooded sandbanks around the island and a combination of sea currents.
The main aborigines of this piece of land are the feral horses, whose ancestors were brought back in the early 19th century, and a population of seals and harbor seals.
The island is also unique in its movements by as much as 200 meters per year. The fact is that the waves erode the western shore, and under the action of strong winds masses of sand are transferred to the eastern shore.
