American private companies are collecting visual and radar data for the Ukrainian forces, the head of the Russian Space Agency has claimed.

Western astronautics is “heading for war,” the director of Russian Space Agency Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin said on Saturday, claiming that alleged data collection for Ukraine by private Western companies proves this thesis.

In an interview with Rossiya 24 news channel, Rogozin claimed that American private companies like Lockheed Martin, Boeing, SpaceX and others are now tasked with “one specific goal: to ensure collection of information in real time, both visual – through infrared radar devices – and through conventional surveillance.” This data, according to Rogozin, is being collected so the Ukrainian forces could use it “for ballistic missile guidance or multiple launch rocket system operation.” Open / Comment

A Massachusetts middle school can no longer call itself Catholic after refusing to take down BLM and Pride flags which send a “confusing and scandalous message to the public about the Church's stance”, according to a local clergyman.

Bishop Robert J. McManus insisted the BLM movement had “co-opted the phrase and promotes a platform that directly contradicts Catholic social teaching on… the nuclear family and seeks to disrupt the family structure.”

The president of France, Emmanuel Macron, has said he would not rule out traveling to Russia and meeting with President Vladimir Putin, but only if certain preconditions are met. Paris supports Ukraine but will take measures to avoid any escalation of the conflict, the French leader told TF1 TV on Friday while visiting Kiev.

The new governor of Sri Lanka’s central bank insists the current misery and suffering caused by the country’s worst economic crisis since independence could have been avoided if the IMF had been approached a year ago.

A team of King’s College London researchers have claimed the risk of suffering lingering symptoms - known as “long Covid” - from last winter’s Omicron variant was more than twice lower than from the previous Delta variant.

The significance of the study was rubbished by statistics professor Kevin McConway though, who claimed the far greater volume of Omicron cases “entirely trumped” the lower risk of long Covid.
