#Iran has appointed its former ambassador to #Syria, Mahdi Sobhani to #Armenia.
Mahdi is more than just a diplomat. Under his role, Iran through the IRGC Quds Forces expanded its influence in Syria. Hence, a security figure in Armenia means that Iran may consider asymmetric security assistance to Yerevan. But of course, this is dependent on Yerevan's willingness to accept such assistance to counter Azerbaijani expansionism and border incursions in Syunik.
