Today, the political future of the region will be decided in #Turkey. As much as its foreign policy, Turkey's #domestic_policy also concerns me and its local dynamics will reflect on its relations with the collective West, #Russia, #Iran, the Turkic states, and the #Arab World and beyond. For this reason, analyzing the elections from the "cliché" "right vs left" battleground is not useful. Personally, I am more interested in the parliamentary election and its outcome because no matter who wins the presidential elections will be dependent on the power dynamics of Turkey's National Assembly as new parties will have access and some traditional parties may be left out. De facto, irrespective of who becomes the President, the system will shift towards a semi-presidential system. Strong opposition in parliament (irrespective of who becomes the opposition(s)) and a strong President but dependent on an unstable National Assembly where small parties may shift loyalties based on leadership interests. Let's wait & see.
