Our native Sea Holly (Acanthus ebracteatus) occurs locally in Singapore’s mangrove forests. It has spiky toothed leaves that resemble those of the Common Holly (Ilex aquifolium)!
Apart from its striking foliage, the Sea Holly has white flowers that grow vertically in the form of a spike.
