The standard care for neonatal encephalopathy in LMIC should remain normothermia, with close attention to prevention of hyperthermia. There is no role for therapeutic hypothermia in LMIC as the efficacy of #hypothermia is dependent on the population, and not merely on the level of neonatal intensive care facilities.

In this review, the authors present the data supporting the necessity of 1) an intact epidermal barrier to prevent epicutaneous antigen presentation, 2) the presence of specific commensal bacteria to maintain an intact mucosal immune system and 3) maternal/infant diet diversity, including vitamins and minerals, and appropriately timed allergenic food introduction to prevent FA.

Sunlight may be effective in preventing hyperbilirubinemia in some cases, but these studies have not demonstrated that sunlight alone is effective for the treatment of #hyperbilirubinemia given its sporadic availability and the low or very low certainty of the evidence.

There is no overall difference in death or NDI rates at 18 to 22 months corrected age between initial laparotomy versus drainage. However, the preoperative diagnosis of #NEC or #SIP modifies the impact of initial treatment.

Though infants undergoing daytime and OE were dissimilar, extubation success rates did not differ (day or night). Larger multicenter studies are needed to test our findings and identify markers of extubation readiness in preterm infants.

When placental vascular dysfunction is accompanied by fetal growth restriction or being born SGA, it is associated with an increased risk of developing BPD and pulmonary hypertension. The #placenta dysfunction endotype of prematurity is strongly associated with the vascular phenotype of #BPD.
