In America it is pretty rare to see people using social media. They can learn about daily news happening around the world either reading NYT or watching Netflix, Hulu etc. Once I gave my American friends my Instagram, they started asking why so much effort and time I put on useless thing like Instagram. BUT!
In Uzbekistan, since we are still on the stage of developing, there are yet a lot to be learned about the world, new technology and new changes which mostly can be highlighted on social media. For example, if you don’t use social media for a week, you feel like you have missed a year-like-news or events.
That being said, I agree with the fact that you totally waste your time and get nothing in return if you use social media for seeing someone’s talking about where he went or what she cooked. Do you see my point?
I don’t mean to stop using these SMs, and detoxing or smth like that, but what I really mean is to use them for right purposes. Watch news, learn what new technology is being produced, follow bloggers who help you develop in your sphere, who share their views!
