Russia used the ODAB-1500 heavy aerial bomb in Ukraine for the first time, writes Bild.
According to reports, the warhead was fired at the village of Velika Pisarivka in Sumy Oblast. The publication's expert, Julian Röpke, notes that a 1 km high cloud of smoke rose in the sky after the impact of the Volumetric Detonation Air Bomb (ODAB).
This is a Soviet-era thermobaric projectile that emits a flammable liquid in the form of an aerosol about 10 meters before hitting the target, occupying it. This type of ammunition, compared to the classic one, has a great power of defeat. Previously, similar bombs were used, but of the smallest weight: from 170 to 500 kg, but now the weight is 1.5 tons.
