Lidiia Stepanivna crossed the entire front line under enemy fire, covering about 10 kilometers. Despite falling twice, she persevered in her attempt to reach free Ukrainian territory. The courageous woman received all necessary assistance and is now in a relatively safe place.

The house that Lidiia built with her own hands was destroyed by the Russians, and her relatives were injured. The 98-year-old woman did the impossible to escape from the occupiers. Lidiia walked all day without food or water, fell several times from exhaustion, and even, as she describes it, “fell asleep some times to rest”. She relied only on two sticks and sheer determination. Remarkably, amid the chaos of the battle, Lidiia survived unscathed.
