winter melancholy: I dreamt of colors hugging the frozen la | Every Day Poems

winter melancholy:

I dreamt of colors hugging the frozen lake.
I dreamt of summers and the golden days.
I felt such wonder under my open cage.
I carry somber, in my broken age.

Chanting birds and the crowded streets.
Strobe lights and the bustling heat.
An avalanche coughed on the mountain's steep.
We all breathe summer in our frozen dreams.

There is melancholy and winter in my bones.
There is the white wolf knocking at my door.
But the white wolf won't rip out my clothes.
The dismal veil never preys on souls.

But I, I feel a great sadness in my heart.
I feel an icy dagger lodged in my thoughts.
I'll light up a fire, lay down and laugh. Because to feel the winter melancholy is an art.
