Kremlin Slams ‘Irrational’ EU Russian Tourist Visa Ban Plans
Moscow’s insistence that the EU and various members are “demonstrating an absolute lack of reason” in proposing a ban on Russian tourist visas has been backed up by two of the bloc’s most powerful states in France and Germany.
Foreign ministers are set to meet in Prague Tuesday and Wednesday to discuss how best to continue sanctioning Russia, with Paris and Berlin arguing that the visa ban would be counterproductive and risks estranging future generations.
Denmark’s FM Jeppe Kofod, on the other hand, insisted last week it was “provocative to see Russian men on European beaches” while Ukrainians are forced to fight, and believes cutting off tourists will “send a clear message to Putin.”
