People hold different opinions about what exactly today’s biggest environmental problem is – whether it is the fact that some animals and plants species are disappearing or that there more serious problems. Notwithstanding the severity of the former problem, I believe that there more significant issues regarding environment such as global warming, fresh water deficiency and forest fires.

To begin with, the loss of some species of plants and animals is undeniably a serious issue to ponder on, for it does effect food chain in the world. Nature has always kept the balance well between prey and predators, thus preventing one species from completely disappearing. However, the strongest predator in the history of earth, humans, may have distorted that balance, which is in turn threatening some species with complete eradication. Undoubtedly, the loss of one particular type of animal or plant could be detrimental since even the smallest, seemingly useless species, may have a crucial role in food chain. For example, the decision made by chairman Mao of communist China to completely wipe out all the swallows in the country resulted in the increase in a grasshopper population. As a result, huge number of grasshoppers, main diet of the swallows eradicated, ate all the crop produced by people causing the greatest famine in human history, claiming roughly 30 million lives. Given the historical evidence, the loss of a particular animal or plant is indeed a very serious environmental problem.

However, there are more serious environmental problems that people should be worried about these days. Firstly, global warming that is getting more acute year by year affecting the lives of millions. It most importantly melting ice glaciers in south and north poles, which therefore is causing an increase in sea level, jeopardizing coastal cities. Also, there is more precipitation now than in the past due to the change, and it is putting the lives of many who live in mountainous areas in danger as more snow and rain increases the chances of landslides and floods. Secondly, shortage of drinkable water in many parts of the world is yet another more important problem regarding environment. It is estimated that more than a third of world’s population suffers from fresh water deficiency. Finally, forest fires, which have risen in frequency over the last 2 decades, are another serious environmental problem we have to deal with. Not only are they destroying many habitats but also adding to the carbon dioxide emission. It comes as no surprise that trees filter the air by taking in CO2 gases, which are poisonous to people, and releasing oxygen. These are, in my opinion, more serious problems people need to worry about, for they are literally killing us.

To conclude, by no means is the loss of a particular species not a serious issue because it can destroy food chain which may kill millions like in the case of famine in China. Nevertheless, global warming, water deficiency and forest fires seem more serious because they are already affecting people by destroying the homes and depriving them of oxygen.

2022-06-16 13:36:27 Some people say that History is one of the most important school subject. Other people think that, in today’s world, subject like Science and Technology are more important than History.
Discuss both these views and give own opinion.

Education, school curriculum in particular, has been the subject of harsh discussion for quite a long time now. To be more specific, some find History an essential subject to teach while there is an opposing viewpoint which claims that Science and Technology are of more importance in the age of technology we are living now. Notwithstanding the academic significance of History, I believe exact subjects and IT spheres are more important in humanity’s attempts to thrive for a better future.

To begin with, academic significance of teaching history is huge, especially while teaching youngsters how their country has evolved over the course of history. History helps people to understand what steps, whether it be faulty like unnecessary wars or righteous such as abolition of slavery, our ancestors took. This in turn helps school children to understand who they really are and to draw personal conclusions of what is right and what is wrong. Besides this, history could also help governments to develop patriotism, a sense of an utmost importance for any country with high perspectives. For example, schools in China are specialized to teach pupils ‘the great history of China’, and therefore strengthening the love towards the country.

On the other hand, today children are obliged to learn IT and exact subjects, for the world is changing exceptionally fast. Governments are well aware this; hence schools are now more centered to teaching IT spheres and exact sciences such as math, physics, chemistry …etc. It is undoubtedly these subjects that are going to take us to the next level of evolution. The world needs help by specialists who are capable of finding innovative solutions we are facing now – global warming, overpopulation, food scarcity and so on. These problems could only be tackled by original solutions provided by people who mastered Science and Technology. Therefore, I am a firm believer that schools ought to pay more attention to these subjects since we almost destroyed our world with conventional methods; we now need new ways that can only be possible if schools generated more specialists.

In conclusion, History is indeed a vital subject to bring up an open-minded, righteous and patriotic generation. However, now is the time to look ahead and try to solve current problems, and this can be done by paying more attention to exact subjects and information technology.

It is sometimes argued that people have relatively more choices than in the past. Considering the changes brought about by industrial revolution and the effects of globalization, I completely support the viewpoint.

To begin with, it is worth mentioning that never before, in any period in history, has the world been so developed that people now are more concerned about the abundance of choices rather than the lack of them. Particularly, the developments that followed the industrial revolution led to an unprecedented freedom of choice, for the competition among entrepreneurs to accommodate people’s needs correspondingly rose. As more and more business owners started to enter ever-increasing harsh environment of business, they had to come up with new ideas of selling their product or service. Therefore, the very fierce competition resulted in generating excessive number of choices available to people.

Besides the industrial revolution, globalization also has its fair share in huge number of choices available for people now. Globalization, a process that helps a business to become ubiquitous, has led to realization that people have more choices than their country can offer. For example, the spread of KFC, McDonald’s, King Burger, … etc. generated more options for people to choose one from while deciding what to eat. Furthermore, the internet has been of great significance to boost globalization round the world. The fact that it now has more than three billion active users makes it a perfect platform to run a business, and thus creating even more choices to people who are already perplexed with too many available choices.

To sum up, I believe that it is impossible for someone to overlook the fact that there is more freedom of choice now than ever before. Also, I think that this is the direct result of an intense competition among business people trying to meet people’s needs and globalization which is getting faster due to the existence of the internet.
