Turkey is bracing itself for its first national coronavirus lockdown as infection rates continue to climb in the country, now the highest in Europe. The lockdown will begin on Thursday at 7 p.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) and will last through the remainder of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and over the Eid al Fitr holiday. It is scheduled to end at 5 a.m. local time on May 17.

Once the software update is installed apps will be required to ask and receive consent to track online activities.

The European Parliament has ratified the post-Brexit EU-UK trade deal – a key move to ensure that tariff-and quota-free trade continues. The Trade and Co-operation Agreement (TCA) has been operating provisionally since January. MEPs voted in favor by 660 votes to 5, while 32 abstained. The UK’s chief negotiator, Lord Frost, said the vote “brings certainty and allows us to focus on the future”.

Pusey recorded two videos at the scene, a total of three minutes and eight seconds.
