I’ve had to pull back from heavy political engagement for the most part lately—not only for the sake of my sanity, but because my perspective has changed on all of this (life in general).
I’m delving a back in a little bit, here and there, and I’ve been looking at Wolf’s recent work, finally.
I’ve been following her career on and off throughout the years since the Beauty Myth, and I appreciate what she’s doing these days.
I don’t necessarily agree with some of her assumptions, or the assumptions made within the framework of the methodology she’s using—I don’t respect the foundational premises, obviously.
But the conclusion is self-evident, and I respect that Wolf is making a sincere attempt. (And yes, the most effective form of “controlled opposition” comes from those who have no idea their opposition is controlled).
