Mistake while doing the reading test.
2. Read the instructions carefully.
In the IELTS exam, you are given instructions before every type of question. Some students directly read the questions and start the test without even reading the instructions. While this can seem like a good way to save time, skipping the instructions completely would definitely get you a lower band score.
This is true for IELTS reading questions as well. In the Reading test, you need to read the instructions for almost every question type. This is especially important for gap-fill, 'short answer', ‘which paragraph contains’ and ‘matching features’ questions.
In the case of gap-fill or short answer questions, you must find out how many words you can use to fill the gaps in sentences or answer the questions. As for ‘which paragraph contains’ and ‘matching features’ questions, sometimes the instruction says
'you can use the same letter more than once', indicating that one paragraph or feature should be used twice. So, be careful with these question types in the Reading test.
