This Day in History: May 12International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world every May 12, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth. ICN commemorates this important day each year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses' Day (IND) resources and evidence.
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has celebrated this day since 1965. ICN prepares and distributes the International Nurses' Day Kit. The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere. As of 1998, 8 May was designated as annual National Student Nurses' Day.
The theme for the 2021 resource is "Nurses: A Voice to Lead - A vision for future healthcare". In 2021, ICN seeks to show how nursing will look into the future, as well as how the profession will transform the next stage of healthcare.
