*Pathway to The Prophet ﷺ | Book Launch*
Alhamdulilah our first translation has been published by Dakwah Corner Bookstore.
This book is the work of my great-grandfather, Sheikh Owais Nagrami Nadwi who was the first Sheikhul Tafseer of Nadwatul Ulama, Lucknow. This book was translated on the directions of my grandmother, but unfortunately, I could not complete it before she returned to Allah.
*Why This Book?*
- How do we know that what we have in our hands today is indeed what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said and it's not made up stories?
If the Quran is the Divine Speech of Allah, why do we even need Hadith?
- When we look into books of ḥadith, we find that there are different gradings mentioned at the end which tell us the status of the hadith authenticity. What do half these gradings even mean? Most of us only know two or three of those gradings, and if another term were to be placed there, we’d be left stumped while others might not even care. This calls for the need to equip ourselves and learn the basics so that we can confidently interact with the words of our beloved Messenger ﷺ.
*This Book*
This is the first book of the Sheikh to be presented in the English language. The Urdu version was written to teach the basics of #Hadith Sciences to beginners and to serve as a quick refresher for students of knowledge. The book is currently used by students in madrasahs in India, as well as government schools in many parts of Pakistan. Unfortunately, many of Shaykh’s books were lost in manuscript form.
The methodology used in this translation is intended to introduce the reader to Hadith Sciences with examples that aid understanding and familiarize them with the different terminologies used. It also includes a discussion on the Codification of the #Sunnah from the time of the Prophet ﷺ till date along with a discussion on Hadith Rejectors.
I would like to thank Sheikh Dr.Ibrahim Nuhu, Sheikh Dr. Sajid Umar, Sheikh Bilal Ismail, and Sheikh Mashhur al-Suahibi for reviewing the book.
In the words of Sheikh Owais himself, "Hundreds of years have passed since the world was deprived of the blessed physical presence of the Seal of the Prophets, Muḥammad ﷺ. Yet even today, with the blessings of the Science of Hadith, we can show you a glimpse of the familial gatherings of the Master of Madinah, our beloved Prophet ﷺ. Come, hear the blessed words of the Prophet ﷺ and see the way of life of the Prophet ﷺ."
