Back in the 16th century, chemists were already studying how silver salts reacted to light, and the scientist Gerolamo Cardano experimentally placed a lens in a special camera to take the first photographs. His experiments went on and on until the device was perfected by Johann Schulz in 1727.

In 1820 the first full-fledged photo was made, it was made by Niepps. But the apparatus was not widespread because of the poor quality of the photo and the need to wait 8 hours before taking it. Nineteen years later, in 1839 the same Niepce and his colleague Dräger created a better version of the camera, which developed photos with silver iodide. This step gave a new turn to the development of the camera, the exposure time became 20 minutes.
