2022-04-17 07:00:01 In 1897, Zona Heaster, an American woman, was found dead in her home, where she lived with her husband, Edward Shue. Four weeks after the funeral, Zona's mother was supposedly visited by the ghost of her daughter and told her that her husband was responsible for her death, having strangled her by breaking her neck. The mother persuaded the police to exhume the body, and an autopsy revealed that Zona did indeed have a broken neck and fingerprints on her throat, so Shu was arrested. During the trial, Zona's mother was so confident in her testimony that the judge found no way to convince the jury not to make a decision based on the ghost's word, and as a result Shue ended up in jail.

Dollars were taken from companies and the public and replaced with the same amount, but with specially printed bills with large "HAWAII" printed on them. All this was done in case the islands were invaded by the Japanese army: had the invaders decided to take money from Hawaiians, the bills they received would have had no value whatsoever.
