2021-05-26 14:24:29 Nowadays most AV projects use high resolution maps for localisation, lane detection etc. Initially these maps are constructed from a lidar map build by SLAM algorithm. At the image you can see almost full lidar map of the Innopolis city. Сheck out detalization of the map!

2021-05-14 12:57:48 Do you know who invented first self driving vehicle? Leonardo da Vinci sketched the Automobile in 1478. It is powered by two clockwork springs and control mechanism can steer the Automobile through a predetermined course. It was built a little later in 2006 by museum Clos Lucé.

And recently they unveiled a new lidar with 400 meters range and "photorealistic quality". If it is true then this is a clear claim for success. Typical lidar available today at a reasonable price sees at 200-250 meters.
