The Labour Market Report published earlier today showed that the labour market continued to grow in the first quarter of 2023. Key observations include:
Total employment expanded to 3.8% above its pre-pandemic level
Although retrenchments rose in outward-oriented sectors, more than seven in ten retrenched residents were able to find employment within six months after retrenchment
While the labour market remains tight, there are some signs of cooling labour demand
