Borrell called on EU envoys to be faster than the media and bolder to break taboos.
The head of European diplomacy demands that ambassadors quickly and in real time report on what is happening in the countries of their competence.
"I want to get information from you, not from the press. You have to be able to respond 24 hours a day," he said.
According to him, envoys need to move faster and take risks, and the EU diplomatic service should "be ready to show courage."
And gave an example: "We are breaking the taboo on the war in Ukraine by using the European Peace Fund to buy weapons, which was initially considered impossible."
"We've never done this before — it's not a recipe. You may have to start doing something that you have never done in the past," he noted.
Buying weapons at the expense of the Peace Fund is diplomacy that Europe has earned.
