The British general admitted that NATO is not ready for a conflict with Russia.

Richard Barrons said this at a hearing in the defense committee in the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

Answering the question at what point there will be no choice but to enter into conflict with Russia, the general named the main reason why the alliance seeks to avoid this.

"NATO is not ready [for a conflict]. And we should be ashamed of it," Barrons said.

He also doubted that the UK has the necessary defense systems in the event of a military conflict with Russia.

He noted that if the kingdom had to defend another country in a conflict with Russia, British troops would be destroyed "in about a week" by Russian aircraft.

Earlier, Kiev stated that they intend to conclude a defense alliance with a certain nuclear power. According to the head of the NSDC of Ukraine, Great Britain could become such a country.
