Hi all,

My body has reminded me of the fact that the season is changing. I could feel tight tendons, my ankle was a bit funny and i had some sore points on the side of my hip.

It was until I reviewed some of the associations of the meridians in traditional chinese medicine, that I realised that one of the causes for the tightness in my body, impatient mind and weird feeling in my heart is due to the change in season.

I googled a few articles describing the associations of spring and found many suitable explainations for my symptoms as well as advice to help the body, mind and soul adapt to the change in seasonal energy.

Have a read through them if you're interested and remember to do some gallbladder and liver stretches to stimulate the main energy meridians for the spring!

Hi all,

Sorry for re-posting. This link has english subtitles of the documentary.
Here's an interesting documentary about fascia from a german TV channel ARTE.
Here are some notes in English of the content.

Fascia is a complete system. It was forgotten and not researched well.
It has a surprisingly fundamental role for the human body.
It's a net of connective tissue (~20kg!) and has a critical role in our well-being.

Thomas Myers - Anatomy trains
tensegrity - tensional integrity
A model with rubber band and sticks.
Old model: skeleton, tent, spine carries body.
tensegrity model, as long as fascia elastic it can hold body upright.
Fascia connects different parts of the body vertically and horizontally. (backline connection.)

Jean-Claude Guimberteau
Sliding of connective tissues
In the body there is no free room, every organ, muscle, bone is connected by extremely flexible tissues and the room between is filled with fascia.

Carla Stecco - "Functional Atlas of the Human Fascial System"
Example of grapefruit
#water #protein #fabric
Organs, everything is covered by it, even brain is protected

Robert Schleip
Movement is important to keep the Fascia healthy
Used to be throw-away organ
#fibroblast cells synthesizes extracellular matrix and produce #collagen, critical for healing injuries, wounds

Cells is miniumal volumes (ants), but create an enormous amount of connective tissue.

Too much collagen can be harmful and cause accumulated dense fascia. Restricts function of body, squeezes nerves and muscles.
No movement will cause sticky fascia.

Hélene Langevin
Ability of fascia to slide. People with backpain have fascia that doesn't slide as much as healthy fascia.
Excess of collagen!
experiments with small injury.
Movement & stretching heals injury faster.
Fibroblasts will stretch up to 200% and sends signals to relax body.

Schleip
Experiments of contracting fascia independent of nerves or muscle stimuli.
Even chemical, which are associated to emotional stress can cause fascias to contract.
TGF - accumulated over years (wrap of organs, muscles becomes hard!)

Fascia is a water storage, it consists of 70% of water.
Fascia can generate Hyaluron (small dots) and collagens.
Hyaluron is the oil of connective tissue and generates more of itself that can store water. It changes inflammable cells, and cleans fibres to rehydrate the body.
If there is not enough water, fascia slides become rough!

Improve hyaluron content with physical stimulation.
Imagine sponge to empty water content in fascia and it will refill with more water, provided the right amount of stimulus!

Temperature increase help stimulus. Can take up to one year to regenerate dried fascia.
Insensity of workout vs. recovery/rest important.

Acupuncture
collagen wraps around needle, even fibreblasts not touching the needle with react. Fibroblasts can be a few cm away and will expand, generating chemical called ATP, which alleviates pain and relaxes body.

pain
Fascia influences pain more, than muscle receptors.

Sympaticus.
Stress activates sympaticus. Can cause contraction of fascia and lead to pain.
Repetitive pain, chronic, traumatic.

Fascia is the source for illness and diseases, but also a tremendous source for healing.
