In the East Slavic archeological materials, relating mainly to the X-XIII centuries, we find many variants of these signs, which embody a whole complex of cosmic beliefs of the pagan Slavs. Most of them are associated with adornments of women's costumes (pendants for necklaces, plaques, temporal rings), where they played the magical role of amulets. On fig. 1 gives a genealogical series of these signs according to the degree of complexity of forms, although both simple and complex forms are often synchronous.
