Twinkle, twinkle, little star
how I wonder what you are,

As a kid, I used to wonder
why stars scare away
as the sun rose,
and appear to be the closest
as the meretricious lights fade..

Twinkle, twinkle, little star
how I wonder what you are,

Stars like you
come in the darkest days,
keep you company
in the loneliest hours,
till their mere existence
warms your heart
in the numbing air..

Twinkle, twinkle, little star
how I wonder what you are,

Mini gestures
that guided me back home
when there was nothing but chaos,
when all I wanted was to vanish,
a break for my heavy heart
as you rest my head on your lap
until the world made sense again..

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are,

Little as I was,
I'd cursed myself
when I wished for the sun
to never rise again,
but stars wouldn't linger in places
they don't belong,
and all went just cloudy..

Twinkle, twinkle, little star,
how I wonder what you are,
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
When the blazing sun is gone,
When he nothing shines upon,
Then you show your little light,
Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
