2021-04-19 17:33:21 We already know that dyslexia is not a disability, it's just a different ability. Proper guidance of a teacher, well-equipped with modern strategies and techniques, will help everyone become a high-achiever. So, we're here to share some tried and trusted tips to work with dyslexic students.

Multisensory activities
Writing words and sentences with different materials like sand, chalk, even glitter glue help kids involve senses like touch and movement. This approach is beneficial for students and help them process the information in a more retainable way.

Games, games and even more games
There's nothing more exciting for a kid than playing a game. The best thing about them is that a teacher can easily incorporate playing a game into a lesson for a whole class, not just dyslexic students. Game ideas for your classes you can find here.

How teachers can help learners with dyslexia and what is the proper way to assess students' progress read here.

Teachers tend to repeat these words as mantra, and they have all the reasons to do so. When it comes to exams – continuous prior preparation is the strategy for success. This preparation can't be a profound one without a mock test. Let's find out what a mock test is and how our students benefit from taking them?

A mock test is exactly similar to the real one. The format of the tasks and time limit are the same. What are the advantages of taking a mock test?

it gives students 'a real exam' experience
it helps students reduce pre-exam nervousness
it supports the revision of the entire syllabus
it improves time management skills

Read our blog post to learn more about mock tests and how they help students turn difficult tasks into their strengths.

2021-04-02 17:42:35 Word clouds are images with the words that are displayed in different sizes or colours based on their importance and frequency. They can be successfully used in classroom to:
revise vocabulary
get an overview of students' writing
engage students in writing and reading activities

Here is one of the ways to make your classes even more fun and effective:
Create a word cloud based on a video, containing words you've already covered.
Show the headline of the video and a word cloud for some guesswork – what this video is about.
Ask students to write down a story, based on the video headline and a word cloud.
Attach the stories on the classroom walls (or use digital resources for online classes) for all the students to read them.
Ask students to watch a video and vote whose story was the closest to the original one and which story they liked best.
Do any activities you find appropriate at this stage.

Read our new blog post to learn more about word clouds in teaching English and apps for creating them, as well as activities to use in classroom.

Essay writing is considered one of the most challenging parts of the IELTS by students. Many of them have hard times understanding what exactly they should be writing about, have no ideas or creativity to develop a topic or lack essay writing skills unless well-prepared.

Having around 40 minutes for this task requires a clear idea of how to approach it as well as a huge amount of practice and mastery of time management.

All of this creates a headache for teachers, whose stake in preparation and responsibility is as great as of learners’, and in some respect even greater.

The master class will focus on various kinds of essays that can be encountered in the exam and what steps should be taken in order to understand tasks, plan, write and check writing.

In addition to this, challenges of dealing with this task will be explored and some practical activities to raise awareness and practice writing sub-skills will be offered.

This master class will be useful for those who are new to teaching IELTS as well as have some experience doing so.
