DOES SIN AFFECT GOD?

Sin has very great consequences on us as individual believers. Yes, this is very true and even some consequences can be very terrible. But have we really considered the impact of sin on the heart of God? What happens to God when believers live in sin?

The issue and impact of sin in the lives of believers is mostly viewed from our stand point which I believe is a dim and poor view and fails to unveil or unmask it's weight in eternity- ie heaven's perspective. When a man in Christ walks closely with God and begins to live like Him, think like Him and feels like Him, sin will be viewed more differently from that man's perspective.

Sin will be unbearable to the heart of every spiritually sensitive person who closely walks with God in honor, fear and reverence. This is not because he fears going to hell or knows not that he's forgiven, washed and justified but that He has had an experience of God's holiness and knows how to discern right from wrong, relate to that which is common and that which is uncommon.

"If sin was the reason Jesus came to die, obviously righteousness is the reason Jesus wants us to live".

A man who knows who he is in Christ - ie his liberty, his forgiveness, righteous position, eternal forgiveness, sonship rights and yet conscious of His loyalty and accountability to master in conduct is a dangerous weapon in the hands of the mighty God. That man refuses to give grace a bad name even when he knows he has that liberty. He chooses the slavery of righteousness above liscensciousness and lasciviousness.

Sin shows great disrespect to God's word, the love of Christ and to the tender Holy Spirit, who seeks to remind us of what we should do to honor our heavenly Father. Sin insults God's holiness, it robs God of His glory, it makes grace look incompetent, it denies the life of divine ownership knowing that your body belongs to God and you cannot do as you please with it. Sin certainly grieves God's heart and every one who's genuinely intimate with God dreads that ordeal.

Ephesians 4:30 NLT
[30] And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.

Amplified version puts it this way:

Ephesians 4:30 AMPC
[30] And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God's own, secured) for the day of redemption (of final deliverance through Christ from evil and the consequences of sin).

John has something serious to say about sin. You may not like it, but if John speaks you know it's not just inspired or scripture but one who leaned at the breast of Jesus hearing His master's heart beat. When he speaks, you take Him serious. He cries out to the church:

1 John 3:5-10 NLT
[5] And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him. [6] Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is. [7] Dear children, don't let anyone deceive you about this: When people do what is right, it shows that they are righteous, even as Christ is righteous. [8] But when people keep on sinning, it shows that they belong to the devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy the works of the devil. [9] Those who have been born into God's family do not make a practice of sinning, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep on sinning, because they are children of God. [10] So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil. Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.

No one who genuinely knows Him experiencially will make light of sin, condone it or make it his practice. No, never. Sin weakens the strength and impact of our spiritual life and corrupts our testimony.

We must hate sin like Jesus hated it and love righteousness like He did.. Only then will be walk in genuine authentic power.
