Something you probably haven't heard about, but might be of your interest.

So, you know about Alexa Skills right?

If you think the market is over saturated and there is only reinventing the wheel exercise there, consider building skills for Alisa (the one from Yandex) instead.

Can also be a perfect choice for your pet project and something to put on your CV.

In short, there are 5 main ways to monetise it

Encouragement program - get your skill in top 50 and get paid each month from the main bucket of 500k RUB (5k GBP)

Prizes and completions from Alisa - every quarter Yandex team will review the skills, and if its unique and relevant enough you ll get a prize (1.5k GBP), there are also completions to win the station itslef

Develop skills per request - if you are good, you can get certified and the team will promote you as a developer to businesses

Yandex Marketing Network - simply add promotions in your skill and get paid

Get paid from users - if your skill is super useful, you can get paid from users who are liking your Alisa skill.

Chart Libraries

What are the best / favourite chart libraries that you've used?

Anyone managed to find something as powerful as d3js.org but more plug & play?

PS doesn't have to be chart, can be any other visualisation technique

Haikei

The one to save for later. Has all sort off curves, waves, blobs, etc

Something I hate doing in pure CSS, simply because every time I do it, it feels like a waste of time

Here you just generate it, download and use in your project

Super nice and simple

2021 SO Developer Survey results

https://insights.stackoverflow.com/survey/2021

Overview:

This year, for example, we observed a significant evolution in the way developers educate themselves. For the rising cohort of coders under the age of 18, online resources like videos and blogs are more popular than books and school combined, a statistic that doesn’t hold for any of our other age cohorts. Overall, the profession is full of new joiners, with more than 50% indicating they have been coding for less than a decade, and more than 35% having less than five years in the trade.

Cursor morphing

An example of simulating iOS morphing cursor in Web. Not entirely sure why someone would use it on desktop, but looks good as an experiment.

Definitely grabs user's attention.

I will throw shit to apple meanwhile they force devs to buy a pc with their OS because they can't be bothered to keep supporting safari for windows or a version for linux. That just to start, then we can continue with apple giving 2 fucks about web standards…
