1481: The Pope called upon all Christian princes to send back to Spain the jews who had fled from the Inquisition.
This was 2 1/2 years after Pope Sixtus IV issued the papal bull Exigit sinceras devotionis affectus (”Sincere Devotion Is Required”), which authorized the creation of the Inquisition in Castile.
