The Hong Kong startup Open Ocean Engineering has launched an unmanned boat for autonomous cleaning of rivers and canals from garbage. It runs on an electric motor and can collect a ton of waste per day.
The Clearbot Neo uses 2 cameras to look for debris on the water surface, and the AI alerts the boat to obstacles or sea animals. Now the boat operates in the Hong Kong area, but the developers are preparing to enter the international market, and also plan to modify the boat to be able to eliminate fuel and oil spills.
