ID2020 is a prototype digital identity system. The project is supported by the UN and is part of the Sustainable Development Goals initiative.
According to the idea of the project, by 2030 it was planned to provide all people on the planet with a digital ID.
The international document was to contain all information about a person, including his place of work and education, as well as biometric data confirming his identity (fingerprints + iris).
An experimental version of the platform was planned to be completed by 2020.
It was supposed to unify all existing record-keeping systems related to identity documents. All this information was to be stored using blockchain technology, that is, in encrypted form in a distributed database.
But COVID-19 happened, and then the war in Ukraine and plans changed...
