International Everest Day is observed May 29
International Everest Day is celebrated every year on May 28. This day is observed in the memory of the first summit of Mount Everest by New Zealand’s Sir Edmund Hillary and Nepal's Tenzing Norgay Sherpa that took place on 29th of May 1953. They were the first humans to scale the height of Mount Everest. To commemorate their achievement, in the year 2008, Nepal decided to celebrate International Everest Day every year on 29th of May.

World Digestive Health Day is observed May 29
Every year, the World Digestive Health Day (WDHD) is observed on 29 May. It is organised by the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO) in collaboration with the WGO Foundation (WGOF). Each year the day focuses upon a particular digestive disease and/or disorder in order to increase general public awareness of prevention, prevalence, diagnosis, management and treatment of the disease and/or disorder. The theme of WDHD 2021 is “Obesity: An Ongoing Pandemic.”

International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers is observed May 29
The “International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers” is observed on May 29 annually to pay tribute to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve in United Nations peacekeeping operations for their high level of professionalism, dedication, and courage and to honor the memory of those who have lost their lives in the cause of peace. The 2021 Theme: “The road to a lasting peace: Leveraging the power of youth for peace and security.”

UP Govt launches Bal-Seva Yojana for children who lost their parents due to COVID
Uttar Pradesh Government also launched Bal-Seva Yojana for the children who lost their parents due to COVID pandemic. The State Government will provide financial assistance of Rs. 4,000 per month to such children. Government will also provide laptop/Tablet to such children if they are getting education in any school or are doing any professional course. Financial assistance of Rs. 1,01,000 will be provided for the marriage of girl children who lost their parents in this pandemic.

Assam govt announces CM's Sishu Sewa Scheme for children who lost parents due to COVID-19
The Assam government has announced Chief Minister's Sishu Sewa Scheme for the welfare of those children who lost parents due to COVID-19. Mr. Sarma said that monthly scholarship of Rs. 3,500 per month would be given to those children who lost their parents or the bread earner, but have their extended family members. On the other hand, those children who do have not extended family members they would get free residential educational facilities. Mr. Sarma further said that a girl would also be given one tola of gold and Rs. 50,000 during her marriage. He said that such children will also get free computer and also vocational training.

Tamil Nadu govt announces ₹5 lakh fixed deposit for children who lost parents to Covid
The Tamil Nadu Government has announced that an amount of Rs. 5 lakh would be deposited on the account of each orphaned child and would be given to the child with interest when the child attains 18 years of age. he Government also plans to pay Rs 3000 per month to the relatives who have the custody of the orphaned.

Centre allocates Rs. 5,117 crore grant to Madhya Pradesh under Jal Jeevan Mission
Central Government has allocated Rs. 5,117 crore grant to Madhya Pradesh under Jal Jeevan Mission to provide safe and potable piped drinking water to all the rural household in the state. Jal Shakti Ministry said, keeping in view the commitment of the state to make provision of tap water supply in every rural home by 2023, the first tranche of more than Rs. 1,184 crore have been released. Madhya Pradesh has one crore 23 lakh rural households, out of which more than 31 per cent have tap water supply at their homes.
