It has increasingly become common to see more males
shouldering the responsibility of
child rearing at home, which
transforms the role of female
into a
breadwinner.
The primary reason for this trend
lies in current changes in
social structures, and I believe it is a positive progress not only for societies but also for individuals.
The recent changes in social structure has been accompanied by
diminishing role of certain stereotypes. Traditionally, women were considered
to be accountable for housechores, while men
primarily hold the obligation to
provide his family financially. However, following the
prevailing notion of human rights, it has become
socially acceptable to see working females and househusbands. Another contributing factor might be the
excessive strain which today's
competitive world puts on families. Provided female earn more than their male
counterpart in a household, it may seem justified for
the former to continue working in a
mutual agreement with
the latter to offer help after
giving a birth.
Having considered the
underlying causes of this situation, I am convinced that its overall effects are far more positive. It is always favoured to live in a society where male and female members
share equal rights. Additionally, male
consenting to stay at home may mean there exists
greater mutual understanding in a family. Following this, we can observe
decline in the divorce rate as wife and husband
compliments each other.
To conclude, the transformation of
social norms have been
conducive to the trend, yet I think it brings more benefits for both society and individuals.
