Tap to Pay — turning iPhone into a real contactless payment terminal Apple has announced the
Tap to Pay feature for iPhone. It allows you to use a smartphone as a
payment terminal for contactless payments. Back in 2020,
Apple acquired the
startup Mobeewave, which was engaged in the development of the technology.
With
Tap to Pay iPhone owner could accept payments from "
contactless credit and debit cards and other digital wallets" using
built-in NFC module. Payments can be made using another
iPhone, Android smartphone or a bank card with a contactless payment chip.
