Khazar Islands - project from Azerbaijan

The Khazar Islands, also known as the Caspian Islands, are a halted construction of artificial islands 25 kilometers (16 miles) south of Baku, Azerbaijan, with 41 islands spanning 3,000 hectares into the Caspian Sea.
The city aimed to house 1 million residents in a development with 150 schools, 50 hospitals and daycare centers, several parks, shopping malls, cultural centers, and a university campus, as well as a Formula 1 quality racetrack around a $2 billion Azerbaijan Tower (planned to have been the tallest in the world). To link the islands, the city was supposed to include 150 bridges and a huge municipal airport.
