Let’s talk about Strelkov, aka Igor Girkin.
Strelkov is often quoted by western media and Ukrainian media, they love his commentary.
One thing that must be understood first and foremost is that this man has tons of military experience. He’s single-handedly responsible for the plan of Defense for Donbass since 2014, thanks to him, the people of Donbas were able to hold off the Ukrainians, for years.
He went through the Chechen war, he was also in Yugoslavia helping the Serbs defend their land. He’s also ex FSB.
He was the first Minister of Defense of the DNR and the military commandant of the DNR.
He then actively advocated the continuation of offensive actions, the march to Mariupol and beyond.
But the Kremlin at the time was not ready for such a confrontation and he was ordered to retreat.
Later he was removed from DNR affairs and left for Moscow. All these years he was engaged in social activities, criticized the Russian army and the political leadership of Russia, using his authority as a former military man and hero of the DNR — basically holding a grudge against the ministry of defence and the Russian government.
But with the start of the new war, he has not been able to forget his personal grudge against a number of officials either, including Surkov, who has long since been removed from office and continues to exaggerate and criticize, while having little knowledge of the situation at the front.
He was cut off from access to information and sources from the front a long time ago, so he is satisfied with scraps of information from the internet and presents them in the most favorable way for the Ukrainians.
This is why we don’t quote Strelkov, and most Russians just “tolerate” him because of his past status, but he’s now basically a yapping keyboard general with little knowledge of what’s actually happening.
