In 2004, during a drug deal gone wrong, a guy starts firing a 9 mm handgun at close range. Todd White rushes through the red lights with his jeep trying to escape. He drives his car screaming, “I’m dead, I’ve been shot, I’ve got to get out of here!”. As he drives, an audible voice that was louder than the gun blast tells him, “I took the bullets for you. Are you ready to live for me yet? Todd realizes that he didn’t feel any pain from the bullets. There were no bullets in his jeep. Not even a scratch. He decides to take the crack cocaine he just stole but he didn’t get high that night. He just kept hearing the same audible voice saying, “I took these bullets for you. Are you ready to live for Me yet?”
Todd, who decided to come to Christ a few months before, realized that he needed help to kick his cocaine habit out of his life. That’s when his pastor told him that Teen Challenge had a spot for him but he only had three days to get there, and that it was a one-year commitment. He wouldn’t see his girlfriend and daughter for a year.
That’s when Todd White’s life changed. In August 2004, at the age of 34.
According to him, “Teen Challenge (an organization created by David Wilkerson) wasn’t your typical rehab program. They didn’t discuss 12 steps. They didn’t talk about drugs and alcohol. They never mentioned chemical imbalances. They didn’t discuss serotonin levels. They only talked about one step: submitting to God. They talked about Jesus. They taught the Bible.”
Just like Steve Hill before, Todd White got delivered from a life of drug addiction through the ministry of Teen Challenge.
Hill became associated with the Argentine revival of the 1980s with Carlos Annacondia and became the main revivalists of Brownsville revival from 1995-2000. White relocated to the Dallas-Fort Worth area from Pennsylvania in 2016. His evangelistic ministry, called Lifestyle Christianity, and its staff of 43 will morph into a church in September 2020. I see powerful moves of the Spirit of God ahead for him and his ministry/church.
