Why reinforcement's colour is green??

Its called Epoxy Coating

Epoxy coating for steel is designed to mitigate these factors by introducing a protective layer that provides strong resistance to corrosion, degradation, and impact.

2021-05-09 17:36:25 Strength of Material

Imp. One liners:-
Endurance Limit:
The stress level below which a material has high probability of not failing under reversal of Stress is known as Endurance limit...

OR

The stress level at which a material fractures under large no. Of reversals of Stress is called as Endurance Limit...

Ductility:-
Amount by which material can be Drawn out in tension before fracture.

Malleability:-
Ability of Material to be deformed or spread into different directions.
This is usually caused by Compressive forces during Rolling,Pressing & Hammering.

Creep:-
Material undergoes additional deformation with passage of time under sustained loading within Elastic limit.

Fatigue:-
Deterioration of a material under repeated cycles of Stress or Strain resulting in progressive cracking that eventually produces fracture.

Tenacity:-
Property to resist fracture under action of Tensile load.

Toughness:-
Ability to absorb Mechanical energy upto failure.

Hardness:-
Ability to resist scratch or abrasion.

Resilience:-
Property to absorb energy whe it is deformed elastically and then upon unloading to have this energy recovered.

Hooke's Law:-
Stress is proportional to Strain
(with in proportional limit).

Note:-
Stress,Strain & Moment of Inertia is Neither Scalar,
nor vector but it's a Tensor Quantity..

Stress is dependent..

Strain is independent..

Shear Force at a section is the resultant of all transverse forces to the right or left of section.

Bending Moment is the resultant moment at the Section due to all transverse forces to the left or right of section.

Shear Force is different on either side of concentrated load...

Bending Moment remains the same on either side of concentrated load..

The slope of the bending moment diagram is equal to the Shear Force.

The slope of the Shear Force diagram is equal to the Load Intensity

The second derivative of the Deflection is equal to the Curvature.

Point of Contraflexure:-
Point where BMD changes sign.
(BMD=0 at this section)

Point of Inflection:-
Point where deflected shape changes Curvature.
(BMD=0 at this section)

If the Shear Force at a section of a beam under bending is equal to zero, then the Bending Moment at the Section is :-
Maximum Or Minimum

2021-04-17 20:40:26 *Hello everyone*

*A Short term course on Earthquake Resistant Design of Structures*

We are pleased to announce a short term course on *IS 1893 : 2016.* This course covers every detail of IS 1893 (Part I) : 2016 from the very basic terminologies to advance linear dynamic analysis with the help of IS 1893 : 2016.

We will be covering:

1. Different types of analysis, difference between dynamic and static analysis, linear and non-linear analysis, difference between wind and earthquake loads based on the their actions as well as effects on the building
2. *Design philosophy of IS 1983 : 2016*
3. Discussion on various types of irregularities in buildings
4. Calculating time period for different types of buildings and understanding how the design spectra is developed, difference between design spectra and response spectra
5. Linear static method - calculation of base shear, distribution of base shear, understanding the terminologies like response reduction factor, design acceleration spectrum, diaphragm action, OMRF, SMRF, and limitations of linear static method
6. Response spectrum analysis - When to go for response spectrum analysis, understanding basic terminologies like modes of oscillation, modal mass, modal mass participation factor, calculating and distributing base shear,
7. *Introduction to performance based design and non-linear analysis*

This course is has been planned in such a way as to benefit
1. Students who are in bachelors and masters. It provides an opportunity to learn and understanding IS 1893 in detail, learning procedure for calculating base shear in detail and the effects of earthquake loading on a structure.
2. This course is also very beneficial for practising engineers as it provides a platform to about types of analysis, linear static and linear dynamic and build a strong base for further complex analyses like non-linear pushover analysis and time history analysis.

We have planned the introductory session of this short term course on 22nd April 202, Thursday @ 8p.m. We will be discussing the course content, significance of this course and solve all your queries related to the course.

*Fee - ₹1000 only*

Duration of course : _15 Hours_
