Corona in Dresden - Lockdown Extended

The #COVID-19 infection rate all around Germany is decreasing. The infection rate in #Dresden (64.5) is currently slightly higher than the country's average (57.5).

On Wednesday evening, Chancellor Merkel and state premiers decided to extend current coronavirus restriction until March 7.
However, there are few changes:

In Saxony, kindergartens/schools reopen from February 15.
Each kindergarten/school provides its own restricted plan of operation.

Hairdressers will reopen from March 1.

With a Corona traffic light (Ampel) index of below 35, for seven consecutive days, most shops may also reopen.
However, “shopping tourism” must be prevented.

The Saxon cabinet did not publish any official announcement yet.
The next federal decision will take place on March 3.

Corona in Dresden - Lockdown and Vaccination

Finally, after few weeks of hard lockdown, #Dresden's #Corona Traffic Light (Corona Ampel) went below 100 infections per 100.000 residents in last 7 days.

According to the federal guidelines, if this condition continues for 7 days, some protective measures can be relaxed.

Regarding the vaccination, at the time of writing this post, 73.723 residents of #Saxony already received their first doze of vaccination, and 6.363 residents received their both dozes (full immunity against Corona).
Saxony has 4.071.971 residents (statistics from Dec. 2019).

If you are interested to know more details about the vaccination progress, check the figures on ZEIT.

A summary of these groups can be found here.

In #Dresden, the MESSE DRESDEN is chosen as the main vaccination center (map).

Corona in Dresden - Lockdown Extended

Based on a #federal decision on Tuesday January 5th, the #lockdown will be extended until January 31st. Still there is no update from #Saxony’s #Cabinet. Therefore, the federal rules apply.

All existing restrictions remain in place.

Keep all contacts to the absolute minimum during the next three weeks

Stay at home as much as possible

From January 11th: each household can meet with maximum ONLY 1 friend or relative

For districts with a 7-day incidence of more than 200 new infections (corona red light) per 100,000 residents, the radius of movement is to be restricted to a 15 km
Note: #Dresden might have now less than 200 new infections but the #Saxony is yet above 200

The children's sick pay (Kinderkrankentagegeld) per parent increased from 10 to 20 days.
Single parents can receive 40 days instead of 20.

The Chancellor and state leaders will meet again to discuss the situation on January 25th.

Striezelmarkt - Dresden Christmas Market

As it was expected, due to the #COVID19 pandemic, all major #Christmas #markets will remain closed this year.

Dirk Hilbert. the lord #mayor of #Dresden, explains the reasons for this decision in a press release (in English).

Many enthusiasts, have a collection of unique #Strizelmarkt cups at home. If you want to continue with your collection, or simply want to drink your mulled wine in such glasses, there are still possibilities to keep "the same procedure as every year"!

And among them, the safest way would be to buy your Christmas cup from the producer's online shop.

p.s.
The situation in #Saxony is very critical. The number of deaths in Dresden has been doubled in 7 days! By avoiding unnecessary gatherings, we can save lives.
