For almost 20 years, NASA devices have been photographing Mars and occasionally catching anomalous objects that look like bushes or trees in the lens. The images have been called "Martian banyan trees" and are still actively debated, where the hypothesis of crystal or mineral overgrowth dominates.
In 2016, photos of strange black "bushes," which NASA called traces of dark sand that only look like plants because of their perspective, were circulated around the world. But besides them there are other images, where it is perfectly visible that this "sand" casts a shadow falling on the surface, which means that it stands vertically. Whatever these objects turn out to be, NASA should at least learn to distinguish horizontal objects from vertical ones before making such loud statements.
