Let’s look at how these linking words help all sentences in the paragraph work as a team.

Even in – this is a phrase used in English to make it clear that a topic’s characteristics match the characteristics of a topic presented before it. In our intro paragraph above, we are saying that technology in the classroom is also ever-increasing. Can you see how ‘even in’ links the ideas of our background sentence with our detailed background sentence?

This – probably the most commonly used linking word, here this refers to our thesis and states that the supporting ideas of lack of discipline and educational hindrance will act in support of this thesis. Can you see how the word ‘this’ causes the outline sentence to link with the idea presented in the thesis.

Linking words are very important in your essay. To score effectively on your IELTS exam, you should make an effort to implement short concise sentences coupled with linking words. Almost every sentence in your essay should have a linking word of some sort. In fact, the only sentences that can omit linking words are your background sentence and thesis.

In many countries, sports and exercise classes are replaced with the academic subjects. Discuss the effects of this trend. Over the past few decades, academic subjects have become increasingly important in this fast-changing information-based society. Nowadays, there has been a growing debate as to whether it would be more effective to replace physical education classes with academic subjects. Despite the importance of sports, I highly believe that it is inevitable and more efficient to focus more on academic subjects for several reasons.

Those who argue that sports and exercise classes are needed in school base their case on the following arguments. First of all, sports are a good way to build character and develop personality. That is, there are necessary for learning about competition, cooperation, and good sportsmanship. In addition, as a majority of children these days are addicted to the Internet, they find it hard to leave their computer. Consequently, a growing number of children are becoming overweight or obese due to a lack of exercise. So, if schools foster an environment that deprives students of getting a proper physical education, it will have a long-term negative effect on children both mentally and physically.

Nevertheless, people should not ignore the fact that devoting more time and energy to academic subjects will benefit students more in the long run. The time devoted to physical education now would be better spent teaching students English. This is because speaking fluent English will give young people an advantage over other college applicants and job seekers in the near future. Besides, science will undoubtedly benefit youth more than physical education as well. The principles learned in science will provide the necessary foundation for solving and difficult problems that are sure to arise in students' futures.

In summary, there are high hopes that educators and parents exercise wisdom in teaching young generations.

Even though the phrases/words may be synonym to each other, they are still different in terms of context usage. So don't learn individual words! Learn word in their context

The pie charts show the amount of revenue and expenditures in 2016 and for a children’s charity in the USA. Calibration of date is done in percentage.

Overall, the total amount of income was just enough to cover the expenditures. Moreover, donated food made the highest share in total income while the maximum money spent on program service.

To begin with, donated food provided the most of the revenue for the charity, at 86%. Similarly, with regard to expenditures, program services, calculated for nearly all of the outgoings, at 95.8%. The other categories were much smaller. Community contributions were the second largest revenue source, brought in 10.4% of overall income, and this was followed by program revenue, at 2.2%. on the other hand, investment income, government grants, and other income were very small sources of revenue, accounting for only 0.8% combined.

There were only two other expenditure items, fundraising and management and general, with a slight difference both accounting for 2.6% and 1.6% respectively.
