The left has never been about equality, anti-authoritarianism, or anti-hierarchy in any but a secondary sense. The left is, first and foremost, about universalism and entropy, individuating man by subordinating distinctions among men to a "higher" unity. "All men are fundamentally X" is structurally equivalent to "we are all individuals".

The drive to universalize man under a single umbrella, under one higher identity—with narrower identities being only tolerated, but not generative—was not born in the civil rights era, and Soros is only following to their logical conclusions the imperatives his civilization has had for a long time. 2021-07-29 18:44:18 This looks really cool. Marinetti is an interesting figure, the Italian futurists had some of the best aesthetics of the 20th century and a fully formed worldview behind them. He was an ultra-progressive, far too modern for the Italian fascists, who were themselves ultramodern. Yet Egypt is perhaps the most reactionary society that has ever existed. What did he see in it?
