2021-07-16 03:51:33 Time after time after time, what I have seen is that those who claim to care primarily (and passionately!) about principles, actually turn out to be fairly unprincipled once put to the test. By contrast, those they vilify for caring more about identity/nation than principles, actually turn out to be MORE principled than them!

Whether it's:
- conservatives betraying their nation's heritage
- socialists completely betraying the working-class
- liberals being intolerant
- libertarians getting authoritarian in the face of covid
- self-described "philosophers" lying about controversial topics
- or free speech advocates declaring that certain speakers should be "exiled from polite society"
... time and again, people who claim to be driven by principles end up calmly betraying those principles in order to stay "acceptable".

In the end, if you have something to protect you will stand firm, but by contrast, if you're merely protecting yourself, your social acceptability and your bank balance, then you will just sway with the wind, and betray your so-called principles as soon as it's expedient.

Maybe the explanation for this is to do with self-sacrifice in the act of serving something other than yourself. I'm not sure. But either way, it seems to happen again and again. If you're protecting something, that task drives you to be principled, at least on the issues that are relevant. Open / Comment

2021-07-14 03:23:51 Liberalism relies on technology to cement its rule, but technology is fragile and can be exploited.

The internet is a great consensus building tool & for the first 15-20 years worked like a charm. Then normal people took part in content creation, normal attitudes began to prevail, we got Trump & Brexit, you got redpilled, comment sections disappeared on the Guardian, and here we are. The stock market is one of the greatest power centralization tools but Gamestonks showed that it can be turned against the enemy.

It's not clear how things like biotech and surveillance can be similarly turned against their wielders, but the fact that the liberal hegemony now has to rely on them means liberalism is weak. Tech is useful, but clever use of tech alone will not win the battle. The battle will be won by use of ancient tools—above all, the extended family, the clan, which must be revived and set on a religious foundation. That is the real battleground, it's our turf, and liberalism is at a disadvantage here. Open / Comment

2021-07-13 19:10:20 2020 was such a turning point that the implications are still being worked out. The dissident right's worldview is superior to others, but many things even we took for granted were slaughtered, the mask completely slipped, and we're still learning.

I've been thinking about the purpose of jurisprudence in general recently. SCOTUS' job is to rule on cases the left can plausibly win, and to DECLINE to rule on ones it can't—until the time comes when it can. The purpose of law is to formalize custom, and custom is dictated from above. This is one of the hard lessons of 2020—rule of law just isn't a thing at all. Popular sovereignty didn't fare very well either but that's another discussion.

These are growing pains and you shouldn't be blackpilled. Remember what it was like in 2011? That was only 10 years ago. There are 700 million of us on the globe, and we're not going anywhere any time soon. Slowly, surely, we're starting to understand how the game works and what's required to overturn it. We didn't get into this mess overnight and no redpill or secret handshake will make everything snap into place.

But one day it will change in the blink of an eye and people will think it did just spontaneously snap into place, rather than resulting from decades and centuries of unromantic sacrifice by nameless heroes. Your job is to lay the groundwork for that to happen, not tomorrow, not even in your grandchildren's lifetime, but one day, as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow. Open / Comment
