We all know that there is a huge gap in the supply chain ecosystem of Ethiopia. To fill in this gap, Haben N. Gebre collaborated with Tigabu Haile and founded Eshi Express.

Operating in Addis Ababa and two regional cities - Hawassa and Adama - Eshi provides an end-to-end logistical solution. The name “Eshi” which means Okay, illustrates a willingness to possibilities.

With a mission to “optimize and reduce the cost of transportation”, Eshi is on track to solve one of Ethiopia’s biggest problems.

GoodayOn - Revolutionizing Employment in Ethiopia

Unregulated advertisements are a nuisance for the city dweller of Ethiopia as they are posted everywhere.

This is due to a lack of a digital presence for businesses to advertise their work, says Al-Abreha, CEO and co-founder of GoodayOn

GoodayOn is a marketing automation company that provides data-driven work for service providers.

The name “GoodayOn” is a clever wordplay as it fuses the Amharic word“ጉዳዮን” (your errand) and the English phrase “good day”.

“It is always a good day when someone is able to do what they planned hence a ‘good day on,’” Al-Abreha.

On GoodayOn, employers can find gig workers with various skills, making life easier for everyone.

Since starting about 2 years ago, GoodayOn has connected 150,000 employers with gig workers and their application has been downloaded more than 30,000 times.

The time Haile swore to never run again...

It was his unexpected introduction to marathons. Haile came to Addis Ababa for a 10 km race which turned out to be canceled. Thinking it would be foolish to waste the money he spent on transportation, he decided to run the marathon.

Haile had no idea it was going to be such a grueling race. It took him 2 hours and 48 minutes. With his feet blistered and sore he finished 99th.

He was in so much pain that he could hardly walk to the bus back home. Becoming despondent, he swore to never run again.

His dream, however, was so big that he got back on track. After the pain healed he was running. He said that time in his life was a defining point for where he is now.

In his racing years, he has set 27 world records and has proved to be one of the greatest distance runners ever seen.

If you think some things are too high to accomplish and some dreams too wild to come true, let this be your lesson.
