Drama Triangle

All of us have our own psychological needs. And when they're not met, we can unconsciously take on one of three roles in the drama triangle to manage our invisible conflict.

Victim. This is happening to me. You're making yourself feel helpless and constantly miserable. You wish people cared more, and they do - but you're too narcissistic to see it.

Persecutor. It's all your fault. You enjoy blaming and threatening others. You think you know what's right, but you're too afraid to be real and fail.

Hero. I need to save others. You think you're being genuine and caring but you're really being dependent. You enjoy rescuing people, even if you let them experience the crisis again.

Some people can stay in the drama triangle their entire lives, especially those that don't take the time to acknowledge the painful root of their own conflict. If this reminds you of yourself, or a friend/family then GREAT.

Share this post. Take the opportunity to reflect.

In the Shower

We made a short playlist of quotes and songs that's perfect for that depressing shower after a long day filled with existential thought.

"Maybe I should just run away." - link

"Do I really want to do this for the rest of my life?" - link

"I hate doing this all alone" - link

"Why isn't he texting me back?" - link

"All this hard work will pay off." - link

The shower can be a wonderful, painful place.

Body Image

It's ridiculously easy to waste hours of your time looking at other people's bodies and greatness on social media. One has more muscle, another looks like a dad. Some have amazing hips, or that incredible smile you wish you could afford.

If you have a friend who might have trouble embracing their body, here's a few things:

Give them space to voice it out. Everyone goes through body image issues, and allowing them to share their difficulties is the best gift.

Empower them. So much of our body can be tied to our self-esteem. But we're all shaped differently, and our bodies are just as unique as our stories and experiences.

Respect their autonomy. If they're in the thick of it, it's probably not a good time to possibly slide on how healthier or more active they could be. Listen and be there instead.

As we continue to scroll, so does our body and mind expose ourselves to comparison. Take care of each other.

What's Been Happening

It's the weekend for most, and we're taking the morning to drink some coffee and catch up with life. Here's what we're consuming:

Sour. Looks like pop candy but ends up being a 4AM melodrama session. We're digging her heartbreak, because we feel the same. Link.

Micromanagers. They're everywhere, and they can be super hard to work with. Here's a letter to inspire ways to deal with them. Link.

Small talk. It's often a necessary stepping-stone for more meaningful conversation. And it often takes a bit of courage to make it happen. Link.

Nostalgia. After playing a remastered version of video game Mass Effect, a journalist realises that nostalgia can be extremely helpful for your mental wellbeing. And obviously - we totally agree. Link.

Take care and hit u up soon.
